Who’s Doug Winter?

Doug Winter’s illustrious career in numismatics spans several decades, beginning with his early passion for coin collecting at the age of seven. By ten, he was already buying and selling coins at conventions around New York City. His dedication and expertise led him to found Douglas Winter Numismatics in 1989, specializing in rare U.S. gold coins. 

Today, Doug is celebrated as one of the most respected figures in the numismatic community, having authored more than a dozen influential books and received numerous accolades such as the Clemy Award, the Best United States Coin Book Award, and the Award for Extraordinary Merit.

Doug’s extensive knowledge and meticulous eye for grading have made him a go-to authority in numismatics. Since November 2023, Doug has been our Chief Numismatic Advisor and a key member of our team, guiding our mission with his unparalleled expertise.
